IN THE AIR
A RAID ON KENT. LITTLE DAMAGE DONE. ONE RAIDER BROUGHT DOWN. Received May 21, fI.S p.m. London, May 20. Official: Three seaplanes raided the East Coast of Kent at two o'clock this morning. One dropped a dozen /bombs on the Isle of Thanet, but the only damage was the breaking of windows. There were no casualties. The others dropped twenty-five bombs on south-eastern Kent. A soldier was killed and a woman and a seaman were injured, A publichouse was wrecked and several houses were damaged. The vaiders went off immediately. One was brought down on the Belgian coast by naval patrols. Wellington, Last Night. The High Commissioner reports from London, May 20, 2.20 p.m.:— There was a hostile air raid an the east coast of Kent last night by at least three seaplanes. One turned north and dropped bombs on the Isle of Thanet, where windows were broken. The two others proceeded southwards and dropped twenty-five bombs on south-eastern Kent. In one town three bombs took effect. One soldier was killed, and one woman arid one seaman were injured. A publichouse was wrecked and houses were damaged. The raiders made off as soon' as the bombs were discharged. One raider was brought down by the naval patrol on the Belgian coast this morning. NEW GERMAN BATTLEPLANE.
