Hobart, May 19. ■The Trades Union Congress passed a motion opposing conscription and calling for the abolition of the office of State Governor. ANOTHER STRIKE. Sydney, May 10. Six hundred iron workers have struck at the Government engineering works on Walsh Island over the dismissal of five men for a breach of the regulations. ARARAT SHOOTING CASE. 'Melbourne, May 19. At the trial of William Joy, who was charged with shooting Frederick Werner de Vully, accountant at the bank at Ararat, a verdict of not guilty was returned on the ground of insanity. (Joy objected to getting notes instead of gold, and shot the accountant.)
