President Wilson, in speaking to American newspaper ' correspondents, said that an American wished for peace because lie loved peace. He had nothing to do with the present quarrel, which carried those engaged in it so far that they could not 'be held accountable to the ordinary standards of responsibility. NO WARNING TO NEUTRALS. Washington, May 17. Mr. Lansing informed Count Bernstorff that the United States would probably not issue a warning to -neutrals as suggested in the German Note. MORE HUMBUG. Washington, May 18. _ Count Bernstorff, acting on instructions from Germany, has issued a warning to all German citizens scrupulously to observe the American laws, particularly those governing neutrality.
