SHACKLETON'S RELIEF. By Cable.—Press Association—Copyriglu Melbourne, May IG. Mr. Pearce has announced, in connection with the relief of Sir Ernest Shackleton, that the Comrnonwealth has cabled to the Imperial Government suggesting that the Wcdilcl Sea expedition should start from South Africa and that the Mcintosh relief expedition should be entrusted to a local committee in the Commonwealth or New Zealand, which would use the Aurora for the expedition. Every care was taken to get trade rejations with foreign States, whilo there were no organised systems amongst the' Slates of the Empire. I WESTRALIAN ELECTIONS Perth, May 15. The elections are incomplete, but the returns indicate that Labor has won two seats and the Country Party has secured one from the Liberals and lost one to Labor and one to the Liberals, Three Liberal, one Labor and two Country Party candidates were unopposed. The present position is: Liberal, 6; Labor, 3; Country Party, 3.
