WAITARA.

YOUNG LADIES' SEWING GUILD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Waitara, May 15. At a public meeting, called by the Mayoress on Friday night last, for the object of forming a Young Ladies' Sewing Guild, there was a good attendance, and ft was decided to form a guild, to be known as the Waitara Young Ladies' Sewing' Guild. A committee was formed consisting of the following ladies:— President, Mrs. Young; secretary, Miss H. Bernsten; committee, Mesdames Jerard, Fcek, and the Misses Purdie, W. Tate, and G. Brabant. The Young Ladies' Sewing Guild will meet every Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock in Mr. Cossar's empty shop. The object of the Guild is to sew for the nations in distress, beginning with the Serbians. The following donations were received for the purpose of purchasing material, etc.: The Mayoress £l, Mrs. Young £l, Mrs. Jerard 10s, Miss Purdie 10s. It "Was also decided to accept any donations of money, material or left-off clothing, the same to be left either with Mrs. Jerard or Miss Purdie. As a further means of raising money it was proposed to hold a social on June 1, particulars of which will appear later. Through the medium of your paper the committee wish to thank Mr. Cossar for the use of his shop, also Mr. Andrew for free lighting.
