THIS MONTH'S QUOTAS. flood recruiting has been experienced throughout the Taranaki military district during the past week, and it is confidently anticipated that the 123 inen required to leave foi camp a fortnight to-day as the 17th Reinforcements will be found. Men are required only foi the infantry branch. Auckland reports very brisk recruiting, while it is stated the Otago quota is assured. Wellington reports an improvement in recruiting. The city group has to find 172 infantry by May 29. Already it has enrolled over 130 for the next draft, so that about 40 more are required. The shortages in previous drafts have been reduced to 35, so that if 7a more infantry are raised in the next fortnight, Wellington will have wiped the slate clean.
