SHACKLETON EXPEDITION.
STEPS FOR RELIEF. ■ By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington; Hay 13. The High Commissioner reports, under date London, May 12, 8.20 p.m.:— A committee lias been appointed tc advise the Government as to tilie step to be taken with a view to the relief e' Shackleton's Antarctic expedition. Tin chairman is Admiral Sir Lewis Beau mont, other members including the hydrographer of the Navy, representatives of the Treasury and Board ol Trade, Sir E. Shackleton's attorney, Major Darwin (on behalf of the Roya' Geographical Society). Sir Douglas Maw son, and Dr. Bruce, the committee Ing power to add to their number. Ti.t committee 'held the first meeting to-da\ at the Admiralty, and will make their recommendations at the earliest possible date.
