It was urgent that the Government should consider preference between parts of the Empire, and as far as possible with the Allies. GERMANS MUST BE BEATEN London, May 10. In the House of Commons, Mr. Herbert Samuel said: "There can be no thought of peace until we have beaten the Germans. The question of settlement we leave to our children. I believe that the struggle at Verdun was one of the decisive tattles of the world, and the outcome will be the final repulse of Germany's teniae effort*"
