WAITARA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

Waitara, April 12. The North Taranaki and the Waitara Road. Dairy Companies are donating one box of butter monthly to the ladies of the New Plynioutn Patriotic Committee who are canning and forwarding it to the front. Owing to the great .scarcity, the powers that be are unable to simply our fighting ißds with this luxury, and if other dairy companies and patriotic committees, as well as individuals, were to do their utmost in keeping the men in comforts they would be doing good service. The Patriotic Concert, to be given in St. John's Hall on Thursday, 18th iust, promises to be a record success. The Sunflower Entertainers have been rehearsing for some weeks, and are in hopes that the excellent programme to be summitted will entice a bumper house. These entertainers have been doing splendid work in assisting various patriotic movements and it is hoped the public will turn out in full force and help swell the funds, which are in aid of our wounded heroes.

The following are the latest enlistments with Mr. J. Kempsell, lion, recruiting officer: P. Taylor (Waitara), S. Herbert, R. H. Read, R. Penson (Wai- < tara), Tom West (New Plymouth), S. G. Cunningham, H. Pitt (Urenui), E. K. Blnndell (Okakc), H. M. Oxenham (Uruti), S. J. Fowler, N. Scott, J. J. O'Donnell, M. J. ODonnell (Tongaporutu), and T. Wright (Te Hawaii).
