ADDINGTON. At the Addington market fat cattle were easier, but fat lambs sold well at last week's rates. There was a good demand for fat sheep, which were firm. Pigs sold well, and were in good demand. On Tuesday, the 2nd inst., at my Stony River yards, I had a full yarding of all classes of cattle, with a very large. attendance of the public. Competition throughout was very keen, the sale being a record. Best weaner steers made from £3 3s to £3 8s 6d, good £2 10s to £2 19s, small 33s fid to £2, weaner heifers 18s to 35s Od, mixed weavers 25s 6d to 355, 15-18-month empty heifers £3 5s to £3 16s, 20-month steers £5 6s fid, small 2y 3 -year steers £0 as to £7 ss, store cows £3 12s to £5 14s, forward cows £6 to £7 los, fat cows £8 5s to £lO 15s, in-calf 3-ycar Shorthorn heifers £7 10s, in-calf 20-month heifers £4 2s fid to. £4 ss, bulls £9 to £ll sb, choice 3-year heifers £ll lis, others £6 15s.
At Toko on Friday, sth, there -was a good entry, all of which sold as follows; Springing' heifers £7 10s, fat cows £9 2a 6d to £lO, forward cows £6 5s to £7 12s, store cows £3 7s to £5 Ms, forward heifers £6 6s, bulls £5 17s fid to £9 15s, in-calf 20-month heifers £5 6? 6d, empty 20*-month heifers £3 5s to £5 12s, fat 2 1 /,-year steers £lO 12s. At Waiwakaiho on the same day there was a small entry, a fair proportion of which was sold as follows:—Weaner steers 39a Od to £2 13s Bd, 20-month heifers £3 10s, forward cows £7 to £7 12s 6d, aged cows £2 3s 6d to £2 10s, store cows £3 5s to £4 4s, springing heifers £5 to £8 JOs, in-calf heifers £5 oa to £5 10s.
At Douglas on Monday, 7th ihst., there was a good yarding, all of which was cleared at satisfactory prices. Weaner steers made £2 7s fid to £3 ss, small 355, weaner heifers 245, bulls £4 12s Od'to £7 15s, fat and forward cows £7 19s to £8 Is, store cows £4 12s to £6 ss, forward heifers £5 13s, fat bullocks £lO ]Ss to- £ll, 2y 2 -year steers £8 Is, lambs Ins, fat sheep 22s 3d, 2-tooth wethers 2iis 3d, 2-tooth ewes 22s Id, f.m. ewes 13s 6d to 14s Id, cull lambs Si 6d.
At Stratford on Tuesday, Stlv inst,, I. had a very heavy entry of all classes, practically all of which was cleared at the hammer. Farmers' cows were yarded in big numbers and in good condition, meeting a ready 'sale,, although prices were a shade lower, caused by the block at the freezing works. A small pen of exceptionally well-grown 20-month steers was yarded. V Mr. E. L. Hanne, and made £7 12s fid, and a nice line of 41 steers ( of the same age, very good conditioned, on account of Mr, Geo. JJeades, made £6 8s; other 20-month steers made £5 15s and other cattle sold as follows: Weaner steers £2 7s fid to £3 Is, weaner heifers 24s fid to 38s, 20-month in-calf heifers £3 17s to £5 6s, dairy cows £7 17s fid to £9.155, springing heifers £8 15s, bulls £6 to £0 10s, store cows £4 to £4 18s, forward cows £6 i2s to £7 18s, fat cows £8 7s 6d to £lO 7s fid, f.m. ewes in lamb 20s fid.
On Wednesday, the 10th inst., at Inglewood, there was a good yarding, with a very large attendance of the public. Bidding was spirited, practically everything yarded being sold. Weaner steers made 35s to 555, weaner heifers 28s to 38s 6d, fat cows £7 15s to £9, forward cows £5 15s to £6 12s, store cows £3 15s to £4 19s, empty 18-month heifers £3 3s to £3 114, lambs 13s 6d, pony £4 10s, naif-draught gelding (6 years) £lO.
