RUSSIAN RELIEF FUND.

BAHOTU TO THE FOBE. (Contributed). In response to an appeal from the authorities in Auckland for help towards the Russian Relief Fund, a committee was formed in Rahotu, and a Grand Leap Year Ball was decided on and held oil last Friday. The evening was mild and inviting, and as a result a large crowd gathered from all parts of the coast, visitors from as far afield as New Plymouth and Manaia being present. The floor was in perfect order for dancing. Great credit is due to Miss .Tones and Miss H. Wright (joint secretaries) for the .efficient manner in which they organised the ball. The net takings, including £1 for Russian badges sold by Mr. Manning (school teacher), and 6s collected by the school children, amounted to £l2 3s, which, after deducting expenses, left a sum of £lO for the relief fund. This has been subsidised £ for £ by Mr. W. R. Wright, making a total sum of £2O to be forwarded to headquarters. We trust to see other centres follow this lead, and thus lend assistance to those gallant men who are suffering much for freedom's cause. During the evening items were rendered by Mr. Manning and Mrs. Illingworth,' while the duties of M.C. were carried out by Miss IT. Wright until supper time, when the gentlemen took charge and dancing was resumed until the small hours of the morning.
