DUMA DELEGATES. DECEIVED BY THE KING. Received May 10, 9.40 p.m. London, May 9. The King, in receiving the Russian Duma delegates, assured them that England is following with her deepest admiration the marvellous feats of the gallant Russian troops. He rejoiced to think that British sailors were helping thieir Russian comrades, and hoped that the members of the Duma would be satisfied witli the whole-hearted vigor in which the British Empire is performing its part. At a Government dinner" to the Duma delegates, Mr. Asquith, in proposing th e health of the gue9ts, said that the most gratifying result of the alliance was the complete Anglo-Russian agreement on Eastern affairs. The enemy's efforts to weaken the Allies' confidence in each other were only clumsy blundering. The Germans knew, he said, f'>»* 'f we are united we must conquer, and in this knowledge we should stand together, however long and severe the test, until we have beaten to the ground the forces withstanding us. Then we could begin to talk of peace, and rebuild .in concert the shaken fabric of European civilisation. THE COMPULSION BILL. . NO AGE ALTERATION. Received May 11, 12.55 a.m. London, May 10. The House of Commons rejected various amendments to alter the age limits. The Army Council is convinced that men from 18 years to 41 years will give the men required.
