CANADIAN NAVY. tIRST EOTR* INTO THE WAS. Vancouver, May 8. A wireless message from San Diego, California, announces the first entry of the Canadian navy into the war. The cruiser Rainbow captured two prizes in the Pacific, the auxiliary schooners Leo.Bore and Oregon. German ownership it inspected in* each case. (The 'Rainbow is a light cruiser of 3600 tons, built in 1893, armed with two Bin. and six 4.7 in. guns. The Pyramus, of the Dominion navy, is 2135 tons, and carries eight 4in. guns.)

Received May 9, 10.10 p.m. London, May 9. The Cymric was homeward bound iTcm America, and was torpedoed in' the Atlantic. GERMAN SUBMARINE SUNK. Amsterdam, May 8. Tt is reported that a Jerman submarine was mined and sunk at Varna. Many of the crew were saved by a destroyer. LOSS OF FRENCH VESSEL Madrid, May 8. A submarine sank the French sailing ship Marie Molinos, and gave the crew 15 minutes to take to the boats. They were picked up 18 hours later.
