TROUBLE IN THE BAKING TRADE. By Cable.—Press Association—Copyright Received May 8, 8.5 p.m. Melbourne, May 8. The baking trade is disorganised, and the public are inconvenieced, owing to operative bakers declining night work. Carters have refused to deliver bread except to hospitals and military camps until the Government defines the working hours. ELECTRIC LIGHTS. Received May 8, 8.5 p.m. Hobart, May 8. The Governor-General and Mr. Earle, ex-Premier, performed the opening ceremony of the water power scheme at Great Lake, which is supplying Hobart with electricity.
