ZEPPELINS BROUGHT DOWN.
BY NAVAL GUNFIRE. Received May 6, 7.30 p.m. London, May 5. The Admiralty reports that the Galatea and Phaeton destroyed a Zeppelin yesterday by gunfire. The airship was apparently scouting. Admiral De Robeck reports that the fleet heavily fired on a Zeppelin that was approaching Salonika, and the aircraft came down ablaze near the mouth of the, Vardar river. There were no survivors.
DESTROYED BY A SUBMARINE. Received May 7, 5.5 p.m. London, May 6. Official: Though the Galatea and Phaeton severely damaged the Zeppelin L 7, her destruction was completed by a submarine, which rescued and brought in seven of the crew. A German cruiser slightly injured the latter while returning. ZEPPELIN DAMAGE!* Received May 7, 5.5 p.m. London, May 6. The Daily News correspondent at Rotterdam says that fishermen report that the Zeppelin L 9 was sighted in the North Sea, flying very slowly, and apparently badly damaged.
