Lake reports that on May 3 the Turks sent out parties to burv the dead at Beitailsa, on the right bank of the Tigris, for which mutual arrangements have oeen made, as fighting in the vicinity has been almost continuous since April 17. ■ General Joffre has sent a message to General Lake conveying his admiration of the heroic defence of Kut and the brilliant efforts of the relief column. General Lake, in thanking him, paid a tribute to the French for their breaking of the German efforts at Verdun.
