AMUSEMENTS.

"UP FROM THE DEPTHS." On Friday and feturday nc\t at the Iheatre Koyal there will be screened ani other of the Mutual Master pictures, entitled as above, and featuring tiie cmmt actor, Courtney Footc. The drama is founded on the' old story of a girl's infatuation for a scoundrel. The scenes at Mozart's saloon in New York, sot for the worship of wine, are extremely vivid. The beauty of Dare Vincent (who leads with the above artist) is a decided foil against the wickedness of the place, while a raid is acted with more than ordinary completeness. The story is described as a fearless criticism of that hypocrisy which established one law for the man and another for the woman.

" GET-RICH-QUICK. WALLINGFORD " TO-NIGHT. To-niglit "Get-Rich-Quicfc Wallingford" will be presented for the farewell performance by the "Within the Law" Company in the Theatre Royal, Miss Hilda Dorrington will appear us Fanny Jasper, and Mr. Walsh as Colonel ,t. Rufus Wallingford, Esq. "Get-Rich-Quick Wallingford" is the most successful comedy ever presented by the Williamson firm, and was written by George M. Cohan, the well-known American playwright, who uses som e graphic American slang phrases during the course of tbe play, including the following, which are worth remembering: "I'm goin<* to twenty-three myself," is, as we would say, "Take yourself off"; another is )"Cutting your stick," which is our slang "skidoo"; a quick, bright man or woman is a "live wire"; misers are known as "gaspards," and where we would say "take a man down" they more .politely say "trim him." The expressions are all racy of the Stock Exchance and the methods of frenzied finance. Th e comedy is a satirical treatment of the ways of company promoters. Wherever staged, "Get-Rich-Quick Wallingford" has never failed to literally tickle the audience to death. The comedy is played on the American speed-up principle, and the above slang expressions are given so that patrons to-night will not miss any essential points wondering "what that meant." The box plan will be on view all day at Collier's, where seats may he reserved without extra charge.
