"I have to state that our old friend Mr. P. A. MeHardy hag donated £BOO, together with 500 sheep, valued at as many sovereigns, to the art union of the Anzac Club," said Mr. R. S. Abraham at a meeting,of the Palmerston Patriotic Society last' we(.k. The Patriotic Society has given the McHardy section as a site for the club, and it is Bow proposed to raise a sum of £'4ooo to erect a substantial brick building there as a permanent home for the club. In addition a sum of £3OOO is required as an endowment in order to make the future of the institution financially secure. A fund-raising campaign is now in' progress, and one of the means of raising the required money is an art union, the prizes in which are to be lines of stock. An appeal is . being made to district farmers for gifts of horses, sheep, cattle, pigs and produce, to b e disposed of in this way. It is intended that there, should be fifty rprizes, of a total value of £2OOO. Could I not Taranaki undertake similar schemes,? KARBW- tbu disinfectant known; a." OovenuaMrt.—Sjkw,
