SERIOUS RIOTS IN DUBLIN. TWELVE PEOPLE KILLED. ■ iRESULT OF GERMAN INTRIGUE. London, April 25. It is announced in the House of Commons that there were riots in Dublin last night, in which twelve persons were killed. The Tioters were still in possession of parts of tile city, l>ut the troops controlled the situation. Attempts were made to wreck a tiain near Maryborough, on the jin<; trom Dublin to Cork, by means of a pole placed across the track. Shots were fired at a man who was trying to remove the pole. An engine with a carriage full of police was derailed, owing to the rail, having been pulled Up. The police at Drogheda warned newsagents against circulating seditious and anti-recruiting papers.

Mr. Birrell, when announcing the rising in Parliament, was ashen-faced. He said lie was stunned, as he had always been an optimist upon Irish affairs. The Nationalists sat silent, and only Unionists asked uqestions.

DUBLIN POST OFFICE SEIZED. STATEMENTS IN THE COMMONS. Received April 26, 6.10 p.m. London, April 25. In the Commons there is extraordinary interest shown in tne secret session. Members have been assembling since 7.30, and every Beat was appropriated, many taking places in the distinguished strangers' and press galleries. There was a.remarkable attendance of Ministers and ex-Ministers Some 200 members were khaki-clad. .

After prayers the Chamber was a scene of extraordinary animation, and members hurried with questions; but a sensation was caused when, in replying to Mr. Craig, Mr. Birrell (Secretary for Ireland) detailed particulars of the outbreak at 'Dublin. He said it was apparently in connection with Casement's raid.. He added that the rebels had seized the post office, and twelve lives had been lo6t. Telegraphic communication had been cut off, and he was:- unable to 1 secure further news, but the House might be assured that the situation was well in hand. There had been arrests, but (he was unable to give names. ■

Mr. Birrell said that, so far, he had heard of twelve deaths, but he was afraid that four or five soldiers had been killed. Colonel Crawford asked if Dublin had been, in the hands of the rebels till 7 o'clock on Sunday night. Mr. Birrell replied: They are in. possession of four or five different parts of the. city. Mr. Billing asked whether the traitor Casement would be shot forthwith, but Mr. Asquith declined to reply.

A large body of Sinn Feiners occupied St. Stephen's Green, Sackville Street, Abbey Street and the Quays. 'During the course of the day soldiers arrived from the Curragli. Three officers and nine soldiers and policemen were killed, and five officers and fourteen soldiers wounded. The casualties of the Sinn Feiners are unknown.

Cork, Limerick, . Ennis, Tralee and Tipperary are quiet.

Referring to the Dublin riots, in a speech a public gathering at the opening of the Soldiers' Hostel this afternoon, Mr. Massey said: "The news comes to me as a shock and disappointment, but do not let it be imagined for a moment that the majority of the ijrish. people are disloyal. A huge majority of the Irish are intensely loyal, and will prove their loyalty before the trouble goes far. I hope the outbreak will be put down with a strong liand, and that Casement and other traitors who have been acting with him will receive the full punishment which traitors deserve.
