ON THE SEA.
RAID ON SUFFOLK COAST.
BY GERMAN BATTLE-CRUISERS. BRITISH FLEET IN PURSUIT. London, April 25. Official: "A German battle-cruiser squadron attacked Lowestoft at dawn. Two persons were killed, but the damage done was slight 1 . Reuter reports that the enemj was ■driven off by British cruisers, which are chasing them. The Admiralty reports that at halfpast four this morning a cruiser squadron, accompanied by light cruisers and destroyers, appeared off Lowestoft, The local naval forces engaged the Squadron for 20 minutes, when it returned towards Germany, chased by light cruisers and destroyers.
A man :.nd woman were killed on shore, but the material damage was insignificant. Two British cruisers and destroyers were hit, .but not sunk. FURTHER PARTICULARS. . I , TERRIFIC FIRING HEARD.
Received April 26, 5.5 p.m ; London, April 25. Altogether, two men, a woman, and a ;hild were killed at Lowestoft. The Evening News says th?re was terrific firing on the East Coast from 4 o'clock till 5.30 in the morning. Shells were seen falling into the sea. A Zep • pelin accompanied the raiders, TWO MERCHANTMEN SUNK. London, April.2s. The Dutch steamer Berkelstoom has been sunk by gunfire. The steamer Parisiana'has been sunk. Both crews were saved.
