MISHAP TO RIVER BOAT.

THROUGH ENGINE TROUBLE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Yesterday. The Taumarunui-Waireka river boat, from Wanganui to Taumaranui, on Tuesday met with a mishap at Hikimatu, between the Houseboat and here. Owing to engine trouble she pulled into the side, when a leaking benzine tank took fire. The passengers landed safely, one being slightly singed and burned, and the passengers bags were slightly damaged. No luggage was damaged, and the damage to the vessel is slight. This was the last trip of the vesesl before being refitted with new engines. The mails were saved. The accident was in no way due to bad navigation, but was purely due to engine trouble. The passengers arrived here at noon to-day.
