Wellington, Lust Niylit. On the motion of Mr, IT. A. Parkin job (Wellington), seconded by Mr. 'A. Ki.kine (Wellington), the New '/.raluM Educational Institute resolved by 2( votes to 27 to affiliate with the Council of New Zealand State .Servants Assoik, tion.
Mr. Parkinson, in tnovinjr the resold ti°n. stated that tlto objects of tin Council were: (1) To safeguard and promote the interest of .State Servant*! (2) To protect mid Advance the economic interests of State servants; ami (3) Ti. devise means of educating State sor. vant.s and the general |u;l>lio as to tllft conditions and requirements of gtato servants.
Ho urged that if thev affiliated with the Council tlicy would have a better chance of having their grievances rem©' died and conditions improved, and ft united body like the Council would carry much greater weight in regard to the question* that they had all at heart namely, the insufficient pay of soldier teachers. Several members objected that their affiliation might at the same time involve them in a strike, and. urged that consideration of the matter be deferred to the next annual meeting, Mr. Parkinson said that the executive had carefully considered the question. He could assure the conference that thore was no bombshell in the eonatitu. tion, and there was no fear of their W< coming involved in strikes.
