FARMERS' UNION.
TARANAKI EXECUTIVE. The usual monthly meeting of the Union was held at Hawera on Thursday last, when there were present: Messrs R. Dunn (chairman), J. Hodge, J. S. Barrow. B Orr, A. E. Washer, S. Norris and .1. Swindlehurst. MANGATOKI BRANCH. The. Mangatoki branch sent in its balance-sheet to March, 1910, and enclosed a chejuo lor £1 13s Cd for members' subs. At their annual meeting on Friday. week (ten members being' present), Messrs T. Perry, T. Linn and ('. E. McGuinness were elected president, vice-president and secretary respectively, and Mr. Perry was elected delegate to the next conference.
FARMERS' FERTILISERS CO. A communication was received from the N.Z. Farmers' Fertilisers Co., stating that at the last meeting of directors the suggestions made by Mr. Maxwell in regard to Articles of Association were considered, and it was decided to recommend to the shareholder-;' general meeting to make amendments to give effect to the following: (1) Increase the minimum number of shares, (2) restrict the rebate to the basis of a ton to each share held, artd (■") pay a dividend of, say, 8 per cent, on capital before any rebate was payable. The directors decided that the selling price of the manures should be t>>e same price from each depot, so that farmers in provinces other than Auckland would be in a position to purchase manures nt the same price as the Auckland farmers from the depot nearest to the farm. —The chairman said that 'he was very well pleased with the amendments in the Articles of Association, which were to be recommended bv the directors. They now brought the company into line with the wishes of the Farmers' Union, and made it nioic of a co-ojoretivt. concern. With the assurance now given by the i v ii'.'i.-tors he thought formers would rest KitMcd. It was further resolved tli.it tlio members of this executive express their appreciation of Mr. Maxweli for the services rendered to this executive and to the farmers generally in conneetijii with the Fertiliser Co., and would !>?. very grateful if he. could see his wiy clear, in the interests of Tnruniiki, to potent to be nominated as a director of the company. ANNUAL CONFERENCE.
It was resolved that the annual conference be postponed to Thursday, June 15, and in the meantime the secretary write, to branches asking them to forward remits in time for the executive meeting on May 18. The conference will be held in Eltham this year. ORGANISING. In regard to an offcv received from Mr. Buckeridge to give his services gratis for a month to organise for new members, provided the cost of halls be paid, it was decided that the offer be accepted, and that dates and detailed arrangements be left wj jfc the chairman.—Sta»
