Mr. C. A. J. Randrup, of Christcliurch, formerly of New Plymouth, but now travelling inspector for the Harvester Company, is on a visit to New Plymouth.
The death occurred at the Wellington Hospital on Thursday night, at the age of fiS, of Mr. Francis Loudon, a well-known figure, in the city. Mr. C. H. Drew iiasi sold his jewellery business in New Plymouth to a Wellington jeweller, and leaves shortly for England for the purpose of entering the Arniv.
Amongst those going into camp shortly are Mr. Taylor, of Taylor and Reynolds, Oaonui, Mr. Hugh Fraser, of the News literary stall', and Mr. F. Austin, accountant at the railway headquarters, son of Mr. James Austin, of New Plymouth.
The Hon. Jas. Allen, Minister for Defence, arrived at Stratford on Saturday evening. He met the executive of the local Patriotic Committee that night and discussed patriotic matters with them. On Sunday he visited Opunake and Kaupokonui factory. To-day ho will he in New Plymouth, leaving for the north by steamer to-night.
