N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE CO. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, April 20. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows: Waiuku.—Best dairy cows and heifers, £7 15s to £ll 10s; others £5 to £7 ss; empty cows and heifers £4 10s to £6 10s; bulls £5 to £9 10s; steer calves, £1 los to £3 4s; heifer calves, £1 to £2 ss; inferior calves, mixed sexes, 5s to 17s; yearlings to 18-months steers, £3 10s to £5 4s; yearlings to 18-months heifers, £2 17s 'to £4 9s. Beef was penned in larger numbers than usual/and sold at fully Westfield prices, steers selling to £l3 -and cows selling to £l2 10s'.
Westfield.—Best oxen Bold to £2 4s pel 100 pound; others, £2 to £2 3s per 1001b; cows and heifers £1 15s to £2 2s; steers sold at from £lO 10s to £18; cows at from £5 10s to £l3 17s 6d. Some of the averages were:—Twentytwo steers from Messrs R. W Golla'n, iPanmiire, £lO las; eight steers from H. E. Reed, Waerenga, £lO 12s; eight steers from \V. Gray, Cambridge, £l6 2s; twenty-four steers from James' Given, Greenhills, YVaiuku, £ls 17s. Calves were penned in large numbers and sold under keen competition at improved rates. Runner* sold at from £5 5s to £0 12s 6d; heavy suckers £3 las to £4 17s fid; medium do., £2 10s to £3 12s 6d; small and fresh dropped, 8g to £1 Ss. Sheep were penned in full numbers and sold at improved rates. Best wethers sold at from £1 7s to £1 10s 3d; others £1 2s, fid to £1 Gs Od; ewes, best, £1 6>, 0d to £1 10s; oth-eTß;\£l 2s to £1 5s fid; hoggets, £1 Is to £l\d. Lambs, in full supply, sold well at from £1 to £1 Od; others, 13s to 10s Od. Pigs were yarded in scarcely average numbers, and sold at improved rates. Choppers sold at from £4 15s to £5 14s; lieavy baconers at from £3 7s to £4 15s; medium do., £2 10s to £3 ss; light porkers, £l' 15s to £2 2s; weaners, 14s to 17s.
LONDON WOOL SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., Wellington have received the following cable from their London House under date 18th instant:— Wool Sales—The market is very firm, and better descriptions of greasy merinos are ten per cent, above close' of last sales. For greasy Xbreds, especially fine, the tendency in favour of the sellers. Average 04s are at present costing 3s sd. The fourth series of sales opens on May 30. The list of arrivals closed on March 31; gross arrivals ,142. 000 bales, forwarded 88,500 bales. The' fifth series opens on July 11, limits for which will be fixed later.
