France is ringing with the news that the Russians have landed, and there is indescribable enthusiasm at .Marseilles, surpassing' that shown on the arrival of the Indians. n The streets were beflagged, and the j whole population turned out to cheer j the troops as they were marching from the docks to a special camp. r There had been rumors in France for 0 some time that storms had delayed their arrival. The presence of the Russians side by side with the French poilus will „ havo an enormous moral effect on the j civil population and the army. Receved April 21, 10.55 p.m. London, April 21. f General Sir Douglas Haig reports: 1 The enemy on Wednesday night, atfer f heavy bombardment, attacked the Ypres j line at four points—St. Eloi, the bluff, ' Wieltje, and the Ypres—Langemarck road. Infantry penertated our lines, but were rejected everywher except at St. Eloi, where they captured two craters on the Ypres—Langemarch road, where they retain the trench. Paris, April 21. j A communique states: We attacked in the Mort Homme region and re-cap-tured some trenches which we lost on the 10th. OFFICIAL REPORT. The Crown Prince delivered three fierce but fruitless assaults on Les Eparges. M. IPoincare (the French President) visited every Army Corps at Verdun and congratulated the troops on their courage and tenacity. STRONGER THAN EVER.
