The death is reported of the Rev. W. G. Peel, Bishop of Mombasa. Nurse Elliott, formerly on the staff of the New Plymouth Hospital, hits been appointed district nurse at Opunake. Mr. E. P Bunny, the well-known Wellington solicitor, is spending the Easter holidays in New Plymouth. He is accompanied by Mrs. Bunny. At the meeting of the Taranaki Hmpital Board yesterday, the following names were added to the probationer? list:—Misses Constance T. Blatchford (Sydney), Irene P. Death (Kalmata), Bessie V. Hall (New Plymouth), babel J. Sidding (New Plymouth), and Mary F. McNab (Feilding). J '• Mr. F. C. J. Bellringer has been reappointed chairman of the Taranaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board for the next twelve months, thus entering on his tenth year in this position." In accepting office, Mr. Bellringer announced that the coming year would be his last as chairman of the Board. Mr.E. F. Hemingway, who has been nominated for a Beat on the Wangimii Education Board, is the proprietor of the Patea and Waverley Press, and has had practical experience of a teacher 1 * life, and been a member of the Patea School Committee for the past four years. Private E. W. Hino, of New Plymouth, who was severely wounded during the early fighting on Gallipoll, has left the hospital and returned home. Private Hine's case has been a serious one, and the splendid progress he has made reflects credit on the staff of the New" Plymouth Hospital. Private Hine leave* shortly for Rotorua. The Hon. J. Allen (Minister of De-" fence), will be at Stratford on Easter Monday, and he will give an address at the Soldiers' Day gathering. On Tuesday morning the Minister will come to New Plymouth and will meet the Recruiting Committee at 11 a.m. In the afternoon he will attend the "Ansae Day" celebrations at the Theatre Royal, i and he will leave for Auckland by the Rarawa at night. The resignation of Mr. C. M. Lepper as secretary of the Taranaki Hospital and Charitable Ai3 Board was received at yesterday's meeting of the Board. The services of Mr. lepper were eulogised and every member of the Board expressed his personal regret at the severance of Mr, Lepper's connection with the Board. The resignation was accepted with the deepest regret, the Board expressing its appreciation of Mr. Lepper's long and faithful services on the Board as a member and as secretary. The deatli occurred on Monday, after ■•• a long and painful illness, of Mrs. E. M. Elwin, relict of the late Mr. J. .T. Elwin, of New Plymouth, at the residence > of her eldest daughter, Mrs. A. Clothier, Warea. Deceased came to New Zealand in 1856 and resided in Canterbury for some years, arriving in Taranaki 82 ' years ago. She leaves four daughters and two sons—Mrs. Clothier, Warea; Mrs. Ching, New Plymouth; Mrs. MeLauchlan, Morrinsville; Mrs. Robinson, Rotorua; Mr. E. G. J. Elwin, Puniho; Mr. J. J. Elwin, Te Puke, also 33 grand* children and 17 great-grandchildren.
