FEILDING FREEZING WORKS

Mr. Massey to-day opened the Feilding Freezing Works, which cost over £50,000 to erect. They have a capacity of 1200 sheep and 60 cattle per day. Mr. Massey reported that the exports for the year to' March 31, 1916, to be as fellows: Meat, £7,423,399; butter, £2,949,787; cheese, £3,197,800; wool, £11,769,297. The total value of exports for the year was £33,781,711, a record which no country in ihe world has equalled in proportion to its population. Since the inception of the Imperial meat scheme payments for meat had totalled £8,448,317. Eighty-seven., ships had been despatched, and at present Seven insulated ships were on the New Zealand coast and more were arriving. The total capacity of the steamers now on the coast and to arrive by the end of June available for the carriage of meat and dairy produce was 2,290,500 freight carcase,.
