ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FATAL DRINK OF WATER, By Telegraph.—Press Association Auckland, April 10. John O'Qrady, single, aged sixtyeight, died in the public hospital while on remand on a charge of drunkenness at Pukekohe. Evidence at the inquest showed that deceased was ill when ad< mitted to . Mount Eden prison, and stated that he had been drinking swamp water. A verdict in accordance with the medical evidence was returned, that death was due to gastro-enteritis. DEATH WHILE SHOrPING. Wellington, April 15. When out shopping In Brandon Street about 2/,5 yesterday afternoon with her cousin, Mrs. William Mullins, aged: 42, suddenly exclaimed "Oh! Alice,'' and collapsed on the pavement. She went black in the face, and was carried Into Messrs'. Kirkealdie and Stains' shop near by, where sire died a few seconds later. Dr. Henry was called in, but could only pronounce life extinct; It is presumed that heart failure was the cause of the seizure, William Mullins, the husband of the deceased, is a farmer. Ho ht.d just sold out his farm near Wanganui, and the deceased, with her five children, had come on ahead to' Wellington, and was residing at 21, Holloway Road.
