SOLDIERS' DAY.
CARXIVAL AT STRATFORD. The Carnival at Stratford on tester Monday is not purely a pleasure .gathering; it is a'huge function organised to combine duty with pleasure, mid,, apart from entertainment that will be provided on a large scale, patrons .vill have the joyful feeling of having done, something towards building up Taranaki's Wounded Soldiers' Fund. An important feature of the gathering vill be the assembling of the cadet corps, the military authorities having sanctioned a parade of the cadets on the day. Final arrangements foi the huge demonstration arc now well in hand, thanks to the enthusiastic help of an army of willing workers. It should be borne in mind that young and old will be catered for in every way on the Showgrounds, and ample provision will be made for horse paddoeking, as well as for vehicles of every kind, including motoi cars. One of the grandstands will be turned into a theatre, and a splendid programme of specialty turns provided. Refreshments, including light lunch, will be in full swing all day The picturesque grounds, with the delightful tree shade, lend .themselves admirably to picnic parties, and hot water will bo provided free.
