PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Parihaka Road Board was held at Ttahotu on Thursday. Present: Messrs Young (chairman), f'assie, Holmes. Mickey, Harvey and Willoughbv. Arawhata road. —The foreman reported that it would cost about £6O to do Hie work asked for by Mr. Tosland at last meeting. Mr. Tosland offered to clean the ditches and assist in other work.—lt was decided to vote £3O lor the work, providing Mr. Tosland assisted. Ihaia road. —The foreman reported that work on the top end of the road had been done.—lt was decided, on the motion of the chairman, that after se\cn days' notice the. foreman be instructed to pull down the wire fences across the road. Residence.—-The Board left the mattci of erecting a private residence for the foreman over till next meeting. Election.—This being the last meeting of the present Board, it was formally declared that May 2 be the date of the election for<the new Board. The returning officer was instructed accordingly. Commission.—The Under-Secretary' of Public Works wrote that a commission had been approved to apportion what amount the Parihaka Road Board was liable for on the Carrington, Oxford and Sander roads, in the Okato Road Board district. Pome time ago the Okato Road Board applied to the Parihaka Road Board for monetary assistance towards their roads, a? the traffic going Jover them was for the benefit of the Parihaka Board settlers. The Board declined to assist. A commission of enquiry was applied foi by the Okato Board and was granted. Mr. Crooke, S.M.. lias been appointed commissioner, and the enquiry will commence in New Plymouth on April -27. The Board will be represented by the chairman. Messrs Willoughbv and Cassie and the clerk. Accounts to the amount of £IBO were passed lor payment.
