Danish, 174s to 1765; Australian, choicest in small supply nominally 158s to 100s, the bulk of the offerings consisting of secondary quality which is in moderate demand at 150s to J .Ms; New Zealand, choicest 162s to 104s, secondary 156 s to 158s. Cheese.—Very firm; the bulk of Jie arrivals is required for filling Government \contracts, and there is strong demand for the remainder; New Zealand 105s to 108s, Canadian 108s. Sugar, unchanged. Wool.—There was good competition lor all clashes especially merinos. The New Zealand Gear clip brought top price 24d, average 20Jd. At Bradford there was considerable inquiry and a stronger tone for all sorts; 64's 42d super 60's 41d, common 00's 40d, 60's 36 jd, 50's 3 Id, 46's 28d, 40's 28d. Wheat.—Firm in sympathy with America; 67s 8d is aaked for New South Wales sailer afloat. Flour.—Firm. Oats.—Very firm. Apalata not offering. Beans.—Quiet and tending lowefl Peas.—Quiet, but firm. Melbourne, April 13. ,Hides —There, are small supplies and ail active demand. Prices ' are firm and unchanged. LONDON WOOL SALES. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Department of Agriculture, Indoustries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the Iligh Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, April 11, in regard to the opening of the third series of the London wool sales:— "Wool sales commenced. There is great competition- for all wools. There is great competition for all wools, but buyers are caution* oil account of high price and uncertainty as to attitude with regard to limitation of future contracts. Values average %'l lower than last sales; 56,000 bales New Zealand wool catalogued." The following were the quotations given l)y the High Commisioner in his last cablegram on the London wool sales:—Fine crossbreds, all grades, Is 8d to Is lid; medium crossbreds, all grades, Is fid to Is 8d; coarse crossbreds, all grades, Is 4d to Is fid; superior merinos, Is 7d to Is 0d; medium merinos, U 4d to Is fid; inferior merinos, Is Id to Is 3d." LIVE STOCK MARKETS. ADDINGTON. At the Addington live stock market there were large entries of sheep, especially stores, and an increase in fat cattle, which sold at last week's rates for prime, other descriptions being rather easier. Prime fat lambs maintained their value. Store sheep were slower of sale, while light sorts were down about (id and fat sheep were barely equal to late rates. Store cattle were dull of sale, and pig's sold well. A draft of 10 cows from Woodlands, Taupiri, £ll lis Od. Calves were penned in large numbers and sold at improved prices. Fat sheep—lSoo wore penned, the bulk being medium and inferior ewes, and prices generally were about the same as Inst week.
