NELSON APPLES.

SHORTAGE OF TO2SNAGF By Telegraph.—Press Association. Xelson, Yesterday. There is a seriou? position as regards the Nelson crop owing to the shortage of tonnage preventing shipment to excellent markets. A national apple campaign is suggested to popularise the king of fruit. Mr. H. G. Hill brought the matter unofficially before the Board of Trade, suggesting a campaign to supply all parts of the Dominion at a cheap rate. Tf required the Board of Trade will take evidence here. A request will probably be made by the Fruitgrowers' Association. It is believed the idea of a national campaign will catch on. Government assistance and cheap railway rates, as well as cheap freights from the shipping companies are required. The Board of Trade proceded to Wellington to-day.
