TEETH OF RECRUITS.

' TWO SOUND SETS IN 700. Wellington, April 11. Tim voluntary dental officer at the Town Hall recruiting oflice, .Air. Alfred Atkinson, referring to the. examination of recruits' teetli, says it is a. remarkable thing that of all the men he has examined during the last three months, 'totalling over 700, only two were found to be dentally sound, that is, possessed of a full set of sound teetli. One was an Englishman and the other a Hindoo. The latter's teeth were filthy, and he said he had never cleaned them in his life. '-'What do you think of that?," said Sir. Atkinson. "It serves to show how little we really' know about the preservation of teeth. The. Hindoo said he smoked, ate anything, and drank tea and beer withoiit thought of his teeth." \
