Jones, claim £l2 8.1 Sd, costs £1 Ids (id; Iredale v. Tonia, £55 las 2d, costs £-1 7 s lid; Purchasand Son v. S. Farqimhar. £4 2s, costs 15s; Newberry v. F. \V. Carrington, £l7 3s Gd, costs £1 12s (id; H. Mayne v. T. Northcott, £l, costs ss; Openshaw v. Turn, £2 lis 4d t costs 15s: same v. Push, £lB 7s, costs lis; McLelland v. Ngapaki, £7 5s od, costs £1 17s Gd.

BY-LAW CASE. For driving a motor car after sunset without a light, A. W. Ogle, on the information of the borough inspector, was fined 10 s and costs 7s; Totara pleaded guilty to driving a trap without a light, and was fined 10s and costs 12s. POLICE CASE. Mann White was charged on the information of the police .v'itli stealing cream at Waihi, the property of James C. Davidson. Defendant, who was represented by Mr. Johnstone, pleaded guilty. Counsel said he desired on behalf of defendant to express contrition. It was the custom of farmers to leave their cream cans on the side of the road t', be picked up by the usual cream cart. Defendant, in broad daylight, extracted a portion of cream, and it was inexplicable to him why lie should have done so. Defendant was a farmer in the district for many years, and had earned respect in the district. It was impossible to offer an adequate explanation of defendant's conduct.

Constable La Pouple said that in the main, Mr. Johnstone's statement was correct. Two farmers, Messrs Davidson and Furdie, bad suspicions as to the variation in the weights of their cream. They set a watch and found defendant taking the cream and accused him of it. When discovered Mr. Purdie said to defendant that ,he 4'ould ring up the police. Defendant replied, "Hold on, we will fix the matter up. I will give you my bonus." This was rejected. and while Mr. Purdie was away and Mr. Davidson left in charge, defendant used some force and put the cream back into the original can. His Worship said he could not quite understand a man of defendant's position doing sneli an act. Ho did not want to send him to prison, but would inflict a severe penalty. Ho would fine him £lO and costs,'£l 13s 3d.

The death of Fay Rouse (one of twins aged 10 months), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Rouse, took place at the New Plymouth Public Hospital yesterday. The parents and family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in their sad bereavement. The Rev. J. W: Griffin, who has been attached to this circuit has been transferred to Temnka, and preached his farewell sermon here lad Sunday evening, at the close of which the congregation joined in singing "God be With Yon Till We Meet Again'." The Rev. J. W. and Mrs. Griffin left yesterday for their future home, taking with them the guod wishes of a large number of friends.
