HOW'S THIS?
Sir,—Ts it not near time that our city fathers followed the example of other municipal bodies re the licensing of eligible men as motor drivers, tramway drivers, etc.? In regard to recruiting, is it only the working mail's sons who are to tie asked to enlist? Then, what about those ivlio have recently got married to dodge it? There are plenty in New Plymouth. An - otliei crying scandal is the employment of young eligible men as barmen throughout Tarslnaki. I will say this, within a radius of half a mile, from the Xew Plymouth Post Office there are 40 eligible men who have never been asked to enlist. Go into the offices, shops, etc. and see. As for the truculent brute who says he would "smack the recruiting officer on the jaw," if he asked him, how would it he if some of the Anzaes keelhauled them?—l am,.etc., COXSCRIPTIOXIST.
