MAHENO RETURNS.
ARRIVAL AT AUCKLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Yesterday. The Maheno arrived at daybreak and anchored in the stream. There are 320 returned invalids (mostly from Egypt, but some from England and Malta), eight officers and four nurses, all under the charge of Lieut.-Colonel Elliott, N.Z. Medical Corps. There are 26 cot cases. One man has lost both legs, two one leg each, others an arm or an eye. One returned soldier is a remarkable example of surgical skill. He is a young engineer who had the back of his ekull blown away, but it is so skilfully patched up that he is able to walk about. The official reception will be held at 4 p.m.
