VETERANS' ASSOCIATION.
GENERAL MEETING. A meeting'of the ■Veterans' Association was held in Hit? Town Hall on Saturday afternoon, Colonel Ellis presiding over a large attendance. A letter was read from trio secretary or' the Stratford Soldiers' Day Committee asking for the help of the. veterans in making the day a success. The chairman thought it would he oi little u=e passing a resolution one way or the other, but lie considered that as many veterans as could see their way clear to do so should attend and take part in the procession Only seven members stated that they would be able to attend on Easter Monday, and it was decided to advise the Stratford committee that the Association regrets its inability to accept the kind invitation tendered it. Mr. J. E. Wilson wrote expressing his regret that the meeting jo arrange for the annual dinner to the veterans lis, this year fallen through. Mr. G. YV. They had" also asked him to invite the veterans to a banquet. Mr. Foreman paid he was pleased it. hear Mr. Browne's statement, but personally he considered that during the currency of the war the veterans should give up their annual entertainment. The chairman said the present wa< certainly not a time for jollification, and he would like to see the function a'o,lll- - itaned while the war was being waged. Mr. Browne pointed out that the ranks of,the veterans were rapidly beimr thinned, and some could attend this \car who possibly would not lie alive next year. M:tv 11. The chairman said that a letter h«£ been received from the Rev. A. H. ('civile fixing Sunday, May 14, as the laic for the colors to be deposited in Si. Mary's Church.
