A REMARKABLE PROGRAMME. TO-NIGHT AT THE' EMPIRE; It would indeed be difficult to rival successfully the attraction of the new programme announced for screening tonight at the Empire Picture Palace. Photoplay? presented at this popular and cosy picture house arc quite remarkable for their beautiful clearness and steadiness. To-night's new films will be no exception to the rule. A story rich in dramatic surprises, relieved by moments of rare humour is '-The Mvsterv of Mary," a 3-reel Broadway special feature, starring Betty Gray and Kwart Overton. The plot tells of a young mati about town who, meeting a beautiful young iiirl in a most peculiar inanner and unde. the strangest-circumstances, offers his assistance oil learning that she lias neither money nor friends in the city. She will not "tell her name, but savs "Call me Mary." ..He respects? her wishes and asks no questions. Then events start to happen, swift and startling, and the onlooker finds himself in eager expectation. The story is out of the beaten track and plenses with its novelty. . The thrilling serial drama, "The Master Key" will be advanced another stage. Tliis, the'l4th episode, is the last instalment but one, and is intensely interesting and melodramatic. Another two-reel feature story is ''The C'ass-Janey Feud." This is a rugged romance of the mountain wilds, where men hold life as a cheap thing, but loVe and honor as n golden prize. The story vibrates with human emotion, passion, life and power. In lighter vein are "Playing Horse," and "Bobby. Blimp's Adventure," two rippling comedies, and the latest edit.op of the ever popular War is added. JESS WILLARD-.TOHNSOX FIGHT . FILM,. The Johiison-Willard fight film will be shown at the Theatre Royal to-night and to-morrow night. The interest oroused by this great encounter was unprecedented and a thrill of satisfaction was sent throughout the whole of the ivorld, when the news came announcing the defeat of the black man. Johnson held the championship foi over seven years, and many "white hopes" succumbed to this fighting machine's powers. Every incident is depicted dearly in the picture, from the sound of the first gong to the count of ten in the final, and many thousands'who had the good fortune to witness the battle are seen cheering the new champion. Many exciting are shown. The enthusiasm of the. vast :oncoursc of people is beyond description, and can only be realised by seeing this great film. The picture is 5800 feet, and the full twenty-six rounds are screened, and occupy nearly two hours. . In Australia recently the picture caused quite a furore, and no doubt the same interest will prevail in New Plymouth. The box plan for both nights is now on view nt Colliers.
