CARDIFF. (From Our Own Correspondent). The usual monthly mooting of the School Committee was hold on the 3rd inst. It was decided to continue the preparations for a school concert, and the'- date-fixed was May IS. It was also decided, in order to augment the school funds, /to hold on Friday, 28th inst., .1 fancy dross bail. Mr. Prebble, of the School Committee, and Messrs, G. Rogers, J. Brown, 0. .1. ITowart and 1). 0 Sullivan will arrange the {unction. Cardiff lias responded nobly to the Empire's call, and still continues to do so. Mr. T. Rlair, who recently went into ea.mp with the 'Mounted Rifles, lias been transferred to the cyclists' corps, and will leave for England for further training shortly. He is expected home on final leave oil Friday, and a fitting farewell will be tendered to him before his leave expires.

I hear that Messr3 G. Rogers (whose brother Harold is now at the front), S. Brown and Barrett will leave at no distant date. Mr. 1). Belcher (now in New Plymouth), who has'enUsted, is a Cardiff boy. Ilis brother Wallace is already at the front.

But while we are justly proud of the boys who have gone and arc going, we certainly are not proud of some others, who, if rumor be correct, have flatly declined to answer the imperative call. That shirkers may be allowed to shirk no longer their plain duty, while true men go forth and light the country's battles, give us speedily, 0 Parliament, i conscription.
