Official: General Lake reports that 011 the Tigris a corps attacked and carried the enemy's'entrenched position at Umel-1 hanah, and operations are proceeding' satisfactorily. Received April 0, 10,f>0 p.m. London, April 6. Experts attach the greatest importance to the British victory at Umelhnnah, as the enemy's main advanced position was of great strength, naturally and artificially. It was situated 011 the north bank, extending from the Tigris to the Suwaielia marshes, thus barring the approach to Kut-el-Amara, twenty miles awav.
