BOWLING.
STRATFORD .V. NEW PLYMOUTH. BANNER REMAINS WITH HOLDERS. ,On the town green yesterday, Stratford made another effort to wrest the! banner from the holders, '{New Plymouth), but signally failed, being defeated by 150 to 110. In the game between ,1. Masters and Medley, the latter had it all his own way, his score at the thirteenth head being 20 to 5, and he obtained a full hand on the last head. Morison had slightly the better of Morey throughout the game, McMillan kept the lead till towards the close, being 17 to 16 at the eighteenth head, but A. K. Smart eventually won by five. The play between Skoglund and Firth was very one-sided, Skoglund only scoring at five heads out of the first nineteen, but then got six, followed by three, eventually being eleven down, Firth proving far too good for his opponent. Sharp also went down badly after the tenth head, in spite of a handy five, 11. Smart gradually increasing his lead. G. Smart, thanks to the valuable assistance of King, easily defeated Harrison. The play throughout was interesting, and at the close of the match, Mr. McMillan thanked the New Plymouth Club for an enjoyable afternoon, to which Mr. Morey suitably replied, an exchange of cheers being given.
