THE RABBIT PEST.

Riven a diligent, intelligent farmer, it would not appear that there is any great difficulty in clearing land of Tabbits, says an Otago exchange. «A sto"ry is told of a Queenstown run-holder who had occasion to complain of the manner in which the trappers were working his ground. One trapper thereupon informed the runjiolder that they would be foolish to clfar'off the whole of the rabbits—that they left some of the pest to breed for the next year. Such a candid statement was too much for the runholder, and he promptly paid off the whole of the trappers. He then secured a bisulphide jilant, and set himself to (leal with the. rabbits by this means. In a short period he had the pest well in hand, and was enabled to purchase stock from his neighbours to eat down the extra grass following on the destruction of the labbits—about four rabbits are said to eat about as much as a sheep. At a later interval he was in a position to buy more stock from his neighbours to eat off additional feed. The neighbours then woke up tn the possibilities nf bisulphide, and they secured plants. The runholder who first installed the bisulphide plant is said now to have a practically clean run, and to have fully demonstrated that bisulphide will speedily solve the rabbit nuisance.
