The annual report stated:— Your Committee congratulates the members on a most successful season. The membership of the club has increased considerably, thirty-two new members being enrolled. As will be seen by the balance-sheet, the financial position is extremely satsfactory, the receipts exceeding the expenditure by £SO. Your committee has held nine meetings, tiie attendance being good. Three members of the committee having left New Plymouth and one having resigned, Messrs. A. S. Hasell and H. Smith were appointed to the committe. Mr. A. K. Smart was elected secretary and treasurer in place of Mr. T. L. Buxton, who left on active .service. The following members have enlisted for active service: Messrs. S. M. Okey, G. Hawkins, S. Paul. T. L. Buxton, J. S. Paton,' J. Bullot, L. Brabant, J. P. Hursthouse, H, N. Johnson, 11. B. Booth, A. H. Stamlish, E. S. Morey, A. Humphries, and Ven. Archdeacon Evans. We have to deplore the loss of Sergeant S. M. Okey, who was killed in action. He was very popular and his loss is genuinely regretted by every member of our club. The committee has decided to procure an Honors Board to bear the names of all members who have enlisted, to be erected in the pavilion. This year's championship was won by Mr. V. H. Beal, who wag also successful in winning the Medley Cup competition. The junior championship was won by Mr. C. H. Drew The ladies' championship was carried off by Miss Rundle. The thanks of the club are due to Miss Rundle for the capable manner in which she carried on the duties of secretary of the ladies' committee. Since our last meeting the club has lost its president by the death of the late Mr. Arthur Standisli, As president and player, lie always showed a keen interest in the welfare of the club, and his place will be hard to fill. Club matches were played during the season with New Plymouth, Tarahua, Inglewood and Waitara. All of these matches proved most enjoyable, and the results of the contests were on the whole very even. During the season we have lost the services on the committee of Mr. J. W. Haslam on his removing to Wellington, and also of Mr. J. S. Paton (vice-captain), who left on active service. The former, as a prominent player and former captain, and the latter as a player of considerable promise, will be much mi&sed in future club matches. The members-have responded well to contributions to to patriotic funds, the entrance fees for the club matches producing £6 2 S fid for the Wounded Soldiers' Fund, voluntary contributions £1 4s for Christmas gifts, and about £3 in connection with Mr! Hasell's trophy, which, together with other town clubs, produced about £0 for the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. The balance-sheet, showed receipts to be £214 3s 4d and expenditure £lO3 l(j s 2d, the secretary reporting that the whole of the subscriptions had been paid.
