On Monday, 20th inst., at my Urenui yards, there was a fair entry, which sold as follows:—Fat and forward cows £7 to £9 Is, store cows £4 9s to £6 7s, fat heifers £7 2s, 2-year steers £O, empty heifers £3 2s t)d to £4 9s, 2'/s-year in-calf heifers £5 8s to £5 18s, small bulls £5, weancrs £1 10s to £2, f.m. ewes 15s to 18a 2d, fat and forward wethers 245, lambs 13s 3d to 16s, culls 9s 6d, weaner pigs 10s. At Rahotu on Tuesday, 21st inst., there was a fair entry, all of which was sold under keen competition as follows: —Weaner steer a £2 7s Gd, smaller £1 ISs 6d and £1 19s, weaner heifers 20s (Id and 28s 6d, 20-month steera £5 and £5 Is Od, 15-month steers £4 2s, fat cows £8 10s and £8 lis, forward cows £5 18s to £7 7s (id, store cows £4 to £5 10s, empty heifers £3 10s to £3 19s, bulls £0 2s fid to £7 2s Od, lambs 15s. At Okau on Wednesday, 22nd inst., there was a small entry, which sold as follows:—Mixed weaner s 29e, 20-month steers £4 17s 6d, bulls £4 to £8 10s, store cows £4 to £3 10s, lambs 13s 2d to 14s 3d, culls 8s Id to 10s 7d, small 2-tooth wethers 20s lid to 21s Bd, aged ewes 10s 7d. MATTHEWS, GAMLIN AND CO.'S REPORT. At the Addington live stock" market there were fairly large entries of stock. Fat cattle sold at last week's rates, and the market was a Hjttle more brisk. Store sheep—Forward lambs 13s 9d to 17s 7d, ordinary 10s to 13s 6d, culls 6s to 8s Bd, two-tooth ewes to 23s Od, four and six-tooth ewes 19s to 21s Od, soundmouth ewes 15s Cd to 20s, failing-mouth ewes lis 6d to 16s, two-tooth wethers 13s 6d to 16s od, forward four and sixtooths 17s (Id to 21s sd. Fat sheep—Extra prime wethers to 41s, prime wethers 25s to 335, others ISs 3d to 24s Od, merino wethers 16s, extra prime ewes to 335, prime ewes 24s to 27s Od, medium 19s to 23s 6d, lighter 13s 3d to 18s Bd. Fat lambs—Extra prime lambs to 26s Sd, prime lambs 20s 6d to 23a 6d, lighter 16s to 20s. BURNSIDE. At Burnside to-day fat cattle met wHh a good sale. Best bullocks £ls 10s to £l7 10s, extra to £l9 12s Od, medium to good £S to £9 10s, others £C 10-1 to £7 10s. There was a large yarding of fat sheep. Best wethers 27s Od to 30s, extra to 34s 9d, medium to good 23s 2d to 20m 6il, light and unfinished 18s 8d to 21s best ewes 21s to 2Gs, extra to 3U 3d' medium to good 18s, to 21s, others to 15s. Fat lambs—Best 20s to 22s Od, extra to 34s fld, medium to good 18s to 21s. otho"s to 15s. Fat.lambs—Best 20s to 22s 6d, extra to 235, medium to good 10s 6d to 18s, unfinished 13s to 14s Cd. There was a fair-sized yarding of pigs, and baconers were in keen demand. Heavy baconers 75s to 98s, light 55s to 70s, porkers 40s to 555. JOJINSONVILLk A good yarding of prime sheep and cattle came forward, and sold well at late rates. Prime bullocks £ls 17s Od to £l(s 7s od, lighter £ls 2s fid to £ls 10s, vealers £2 to 12s, extra prime heavy wethers 28s 4d, prime wethers 2fis 7d to 275, extra prime heavy ewes 27s 2d to 28s 4d, prime ewes 245, prime lambs IDs 4d to 19s Od, others 15s Cd to 10s lid.
SOUTHERN PRODUCE MARKET. Christchurch, March 21, The wheat market remains much the same, but a little more distinction is made between the different varieties of wheat. There is more enquiry for Hunters and Pearl, "which are reported to , hj? scarce. The bulk of the wheat offering is Tuscan, worth 4s to 4s 2d, according to quality and condition; Hunters, 4a 3d to 4s <4d: Pcßrl, to 4s •">d at country stations. There is not a large quantity of wheat offering. Further threshing returns arc awaited to see how the crop is turning out. Tho Minister of Agriculture stnte3 that tl\o threshing returns so far arc practically the same as the Department estimate, which latter was based on the total area sown, while the threshing returns g:iow tlie yield from the area reaped. A considerable area of wheat in Canterbury and North Otago was fed off. The oats market is still quiet, with little offering. There is no change in oatfiheaf chaff or potatoes.
