MANY RECRUITS. Melbourne, March 22. Mr. Pearce states that enlistments for the new army are already 58,000. The census cards 'show that 102,000 are willing to enlist and 500,000 cards are still unchecked. There will be no difficulty in keeping up units to their full strength. WTRELESS SIGNAL UNIT. Melbourne, March 23. The Government has agreed to the formation of a wireless signal unit for service abioad. ANOTHER CASUALTY LIST. Sydney, March 23. List 156 contains the names of the following New Zealanders:—lll: Private E. J. Angovc (in hospital at Hcliopolis). Convalescent: Sergeant J. Dick. Out of danger: Private J. E. Considine. Returned to duty: Corporal W. E. Anderson, Privates K. W. McNight, F. Connell, C. F. Hall and W. G. Knowles. TOTAL CASUALTIES. Received March 23, 8.30 p.m. Sydney, March 23. The total casualties amount to 41,427. They include 0749 dead, 10,844 wounded, and 21,7G0 sick. GERMANS IX THE PUBLIC SERVICE. Sydney, March 23. In reply to persistent heckling in the Assembly, Mr. Holman stated that of two hundred employees of German birth in the public service at the beginning of the war 64 had been retained. They were all naturalised, and the Government was satisfied they were all loyal Australian citizens. He'aecepted the full responsibility for retaining these men. CONSCRIPTION ADVOCATED. Melbourne, March 23. The annual conference of the Australian Natives' Association passed a resolution that the needs of the war could no longer be met by the voluntary system, and urging the Commonwealth to take immediate steps to utilise fully the services of every citizen, and all the resources of the Commonwealth.
