MEXICO.
PURSUIT OF THE BANDITS, 'A DISQUIETING SITUATION. Times and Sydney Sun Services. Received Marcli 22, 5.5 p.m. London, March 21. The Times' correspondent at Washington states that General Pershing's troops are over a hundred miles over the Mexican border. Villa's troops are fifty miles away, punctuating their retreat by massacring Americans. Carranza's troops are south of Villa. The situation is causing disquiet in Washington, where fears are expressed regarding Carranza's goodwill. Officials fear that foreign influences are trying to inflame the Mexicans generally against the fortifiers. The next fortnight is expected to be highly critical, and even the complacency of Congress is shaken. THE ELUSIVE VILLA.
