The.Corinna arrived here at 10 a.m. on Saturday with general cargo from southern ports. She sails for Welling, ton to-day. The Kowhai arrived from Lyttelton with general cargo yesterday. • " v COAL FROM WESTPORT, The small steamer Waimea, with a cargo of coal, arrived at Moturoa from Westport on Saturday afternoon. ' THE RARAWA, The Rarawa, which went to Wellington for bet annual overhaul, returned here on Saturday afternoon. She left for Onehunga at night. SALE OF THE PETONE. With the increasing demands of the trade, the Blackball Coal Compay purchased the up-to-date colliers Ngahere, Ngatoro and Ngakuta, and disposed of tire •Petone to. the Canterbury' Steamship Company, the latter firm a few months previously having sold the Ripple to a Napier firm. The Petone Is a steel single-screw steamer of 70S tons gross register, and is 185 ft 4in Ion", | 29ft 2in wide and 11ft Sin deep. She has been engaged in the West Coast, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin trade for the past four years. It i« understood that the vessel, after being overhauled, will load general cargo and sail for Greymouth to load for Noumea. She is then to enter into the guano trade, probably between Surprise Island and Lyttelton or an Australian port.
