A LIVELY TIME. FOR GENERAL BIRDWOOD. Sydney, March 17. The Herald's Cairo correspondent writes that General Birdwood's last days in the neighborhood of Gallipoli were extraordinarily exeiting. After the troops left Anzac General Birdwood and his staff remained at Imbros for some weeks. The enemy learned the fact, and u number of skilled German aeronauts made determined efforts daily to bomb him off the island. General Birdwood refused to seek cover, and narrowly escaped the showers of bombs.
