The superintendent reported:— Paritutu Overhaul.—The time occupied and the expenses incurred in connection with the Paritutu overhaul were about the same as last year. Hull repairs were more extensive, which necessitated a longer occupation of tin. slip. Machinery repairs were lighter, hut the accounts are swelled by an allround increase in wages and prices of materials. The cost of supplying and lit ting a new and enlarged shaft to the spare top tumbler and boring the spare crown wheel to suit is also included in the year*s accounts, also the cost of I repairing the sand pump runner and fitting a new shaft. Neither of these parts required to be changed this year, as they were found to he in good order, therefore the accounts should show a corresponding reduction at next year's overhaul. This is the first year that the top tumbler shaft had not to be renewed, due to the increased strength gained by enlarging the diameter from Sl-in. to iOin.
